Death & Gravestones
What happens when you die: gravestones, Death's Office and getting your items back.
Dying in Aetheria is rarely the end of your gear. You keep your most valuable items, and most of the rest waits for you at a gravestone.
Items kept on death
- You keep your 3 most valuable items, tradeable or not.
- The Protect Item prayer keeps one more.
- A skulled player keeps none (Protect Item still adds one, except with a red skull).
- Value means the Grand Exchange price, or the high alchemy value for items without one.
The Items Kept on Death button in the Worn Equipment tab shows exactly what you would keep right now, and your risk.
Gravestones
When you die to a monster, the items you lose go to a gravestone on the spot where you died. Only you can see it.
- It lasts 15 minutes. Get back to it to collect your items.
- Items worth under 100,000 coins are free to take.
- The rest cost 1,000 coins each (under 1M), 10,000 (under 10M) or 100,000 (10M and over).
Death's Office
If your gravestone runs out, your items go to Death's Office. Death returns them for a fee of 5% of each item worth 100,000 coins or more (ironmen pay half). Your first death that loses items takes you to Death for a short tutorial.
Death's Coffer lets you pay fees in advance by sacrificing items to it.
Dying to a player
In the Wilderness, a player who kills you gets the items you do not keep. Divine Trial falls are never real deaths: you are restored and sent back to the Hall of the Five.
