Pet Companions
Pets that fight beside you, level from 1 to 99 and unlock abilities. Modes, levels, abilities and every pet.
In Aetheria, boss and creature pets are more than cosmetics. Drop a combat pet and it fights beside you, earns experience from the damage it lands, levels from 1 to 99 and unlocks abilities as it grows. Skilling pets, cats and a few others still follow you without fighting.
Getting a pet
Pets come from the same places as always: rare drops from bosses and activities. Nothing about how you get them has changed. Once you have one:
- Drop it from your inventory and it follows you. You can have one follower at a time.
- Open the companion panel with the paw icon in the sidebar, or type
::companion. - Your pet keeps its level when you pick it up, lose and reclaim it, or change its form.
Fighting modes
Choose how your pet fights in the companion panel. Assist me in combat switches fighting off entirely without changing the mode.

What pets never attack
- Players (pets never fight in PvP), other pets, or monsters another player is fighting in single-combat areas.
- Monsters more than 12 tiles from you, or on another floor.
- Bosses whose mechanics a pet would bypass: Dusk, Dawn, Kraken, Corporeal Beast, Zalcano, Zulrah, Verzik, Nightmare, Tormented demon and Phantom Muspah.
Melee pets walk up beside the target; ranged and magic pets attack from up to 7 tiles away. Enemies never attack pets.
Kills, loot and experience
- Your pet's damage counts as yours: you keep the kill, the drops, Slayer and quest progress.
- A pet deals at most half of a monster's hitpoints. After that it holds its attacks on that monster (support abilities still work), so you always finish the job.
- Pet damage gives you no combat experience, does not fill Divine Rage and does not count for combat achievements that need your own hits.
Levels
Pets level from 1 to 99. They earn experience only from damage they land: 3 experience per point of damage, scaled by the enemy's combat level (from 0.1× against weak monsters up to 4× against strong ones). Level 99 takes 1,303,443 experience. Level-ups show a message and the level-up graphic on your pet.

Abilities
Every combat pet has three abilities. When an unlocked ability is ready, it replaces the pet's next normal attack. Healing from pets is capped at 10% of your hitpoints per minute, and wards reduce damage by at most 25%.

| Drain | A hit that heals you for half the damage. |
| Heal | Heals you a share of your hitpoints, only when you are below 80%. |
| Ward | You take 10-12% less damage for a few seconds. |
| Resist | Passive: poison and venom cannot take hold of you while the pet follows. |

Divine synergy
If you follow a god, any pet that follows you (fighting or not) gives you a small bonus. With the Companion glow prestige reward, your pet shines when you unleash Divine Rage. Pet synergies
